With her wealth of knowledge and compassion for animals, Susan Blake Davis, Pet Nutritionist, will provide you with a unique and new perspective that will complement the care you are receiving from your veterinarian. She is on staff at VCA Arroyo Animal Hospital in Lake Forest, CA and works in conjunction with many veterinarians nationwide. While Susan is not a veterinarian and cannot diagnose illnesses or prescribe medications, she does work in conjunction with Dr. David Gordon, holistic veterinarian (pictured below). Together, they offer combination appointments where a pet can receive the very best in conventional and holistic care including an examination, review of medical records, diet and supplement recommendations.
As a Pet Nutritionist, Susan is a strong advocate of using whole, natural foods to nourish and strengthen a pet's overall health. She develops a custom-tailored diet for each pet rather than giving a "canned" recipe as every pet's condition is a little bit different. Her intuitive approach has resulted in improved health care for many pets as evidenced by the testimonials posted on our site.
Prior to becoming a pet nutritionist, Susan gained valuable experience volunteering her time in animal rescue. She is the founder of Ariel Rescue, a 501(c) (3) public charity dedicated to saving the lives of shelter dogs in impoverished communities. Many of these animals were severely malnourished and sick but Susan saw their potential, and working with local veterinarians, restored them to good health. She saw the power of nutritious foods, holistic pet care and the benefit of natural supplements in their healing. Ariel Rescue saved over 1500 pets that would have otherwise perished.
Susan Davis, Pet Nutritionist, graduated with highest honors from the University of California at Davis and attained a Master’s Degree in Social Psychology and an MBA from UCLA. She also earned a Clinical Nutritionist Certification (CCN) from the Natural Healing Institute of Naturopathy. Susan is proud of her indoctrination into the Phi Beta Kappa Society, the Nation’s Oldest Academic Honor Society (pictured below).
As a Pet Nutritionist, Susan believes in using an integrative approach to health care—combining both conventional and holistic care in addressing a pet’s health concerns. Susan’s accomplishments have been featured on CBS News, Dog Fancy Magazine, CNN, in the Orange County Register and Women’s World Magazine. In 2001, Susan was asked to address the importance of holistic pet care to pet food industry experts at the 2011 Pet Food & Supplements Industry Advisory Conference.
