OncoPet Can Benefit:

What Is OncoPet?

OncoPet is an affordable, all-in-one, comprehensive vitamin that boosts immunity in dogs. It contains a specially formulated blend of herbs, larch arabinogalactan, green tea extract and medicinal mushrooms to balance immune response and support normal natural killer (NK) cell activity to fight cancer. While OncoPet is considered one of the best supplements for dogs with cancer, it is also helpful for immune support and dog breeds prone to cancer.

Concentrated echinacea, astragalus and elderberry plant extracts provide powerful immune support. These herbs have been used for centuries to treat infections and inflammation. Larch arabinogalactan and andrographis have been added to help support the gut microbiome and reduce nausea and cancer-related fatigue.

OncoPet's medicinal mushroom extracts are loaded with polyphenols, beta-glucans and antioxidants that boost the immune system and help regulate your dog's inflammatory response. Plant polyphenols have been researched for their anti-cancer properties. They inhibit the cancer cell cycle, tumor growth, metastasis, and inflammation and they induce apoptosis (cancer cell death) [1].* Mushrooms are rich in natural beta-glucans and antioxidants, like D-fraction and L-ergothioneine, that support the immune system by fighting free-radical damage, promoting the natural detoxification process and activating immune cells to help fight infection.

OncoPet Contains A Concentrated Blend of Herbs & Medicinal Mushrooms

The plant-based ingredients in OncoPet are scientifically-proven to provide powerful immune support, making it one of the best supplements for dogs with cancer.

Echinacea (Echinacea angustifolia) is used to strengthen the immune system. Echinacea has natural antiviral, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and immunostimulatory properties. It has been used for centuries as a treatment for respiratory infections and wound healing.

Echinacea contains natural killer (NK) cell stimulants and alkylamides. NK cells are a type of lymphocyte that helps control tumor growth and infections. These are the good guys that can slow the spread of cancer. When tissue is damaged, prostaglandins react with pain and inflammation that can suppress natural killer cell activity. Studies have shown that Echinacea inhibits the production of certain prostaglandins, thus increasing NK cells and reducing inflammation.[2]*

Astragalus (Astragalus membranaceus) is used to strengthen the immune system, reduce nausea and increase stamina. Astragalus has antioxidant, immunostimulatory, antiviral and anti-cancer properties.

Astragalus is an adaptogen that helps to stimulate the immune system and reduce swelling. Research studies show that astragalus helps to increase cellular immune response in dogs.[3]

Other studies have demonstrated that astragalus can help to alleviate nausea associated with chemotherapy, reduce cancer-related fatigue and can promote apoptosis, or cell death, of various cancer cells including hepatocellular carcinoma[4] and gastric adenocarcinoma cells [4].

Elderberry (Sambucus nigra) – The elderberry fruit contains anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antioxidant and immunostimulatory properties. OncoPet is made with the fruit of the elderberry bush. The ripe fruits are safe for both people and pets; the leaves, stems and unripe fruits are toxic. The elderberry has one of the highest levels of antioxidants of all fresh fruits and berries. It boosts the immune system, reduces inflammation and helps to prevent and treat respiratory conditions.

Andrographis (Andrographis paniculata) is an anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antioxidant and immunostimulatory herb. For centuries, it has been used traditionally for respiratory conditions.

Andrographolide, the bioactive ingredient of andrographis, has been studied for it's anti-cancer properties. Andrographolide inhibits the migration and invasiveness of cancer cells [6]. It is also used to counter the side effects of chemotherapy.

Green Tea Extract (Camellia sinensis) has immunoregulatory and anti-inflammatory properties. It continues to be researched for effectiveness in cancer prevention and treatment. OncoPet contains decaffeinated green tea extract standardized to contain 98% polyphenols and 45% epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG).

Green tea contains substances called polyphenols. They protect tissues against oxidative stress and inflammation. There is a subgroup called catechins. The catechin substance in green tea extract that researchers think is most helpful is epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG). They are studying EGCG for its anti-tumor (anti-cancer) effect.

An animal study [7] shows that the EGCG in green tea extract inhibits tumor growth and may help to reduce the number of tumors. The green tea catechins appear to target and inhibit the cancer stem cells.

Larch Arabinogalactan (Larix laricina) is a natural prebiotic fiber that supports gastrointestinal and immune health. Balancing the gut microbiome can help your dog with inflammation and infections. Larch has been shown in animal studies to enhance natural killer (NK) cell activity and overall immune health [8], which is why it is often found in anti-cancer supplements for dogs.

Lauric Acid (LA) has antimicrobial properties and is being researched for its ability to induce apoptosis in certain cancer cells.

Cordyceps mushroom (Cordyceps sinensis) has antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral and immunostimulatory properties and can help reduce cancer-related fatigue and the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation. Experiments suggest that cordyceps can stimulate NK cell activity, inhibit tumor growth and reduce metastasis.

Shiitake mushroom (Lentinula edodes) has immunostimulatory, anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties. They are loaded with protein, enzymes, amino acids and minerals. Shiitake has been shown to help with digestion and is commonly used to help with the side effects of toxic cancer medications.

Shiitake mushrooms have been researched for their role in increased cancer-fighting alpha interferon production. Interferons inhibit cell replication, thereby reducing the spread of cancer cells.

Maitake mushroom (Grifola frondosa) has immunostimulatory and anti-cancer properties. Maitakes have a high concentration of polysaccharides and B-glucans which help to regulate the immune system. One polysaccharide, D-fraction, has been shown to activate NK cells and slow tumor growth [9]. D-fraction may also improve overall immune system function. Maitiake mushrooms may also help to alleviate the side effects of some medications.

Reishi mushroom (Ganoderma lucidum) has immunostimulatory, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties and can help reduce cancer-related fatigue and the side effects of chemotherapy. Reishi mushrooms are referred to as the mushroom of immortality. They contain natural beta-glucans that help to regulate and support the immune system.

Beta 1,3 Glucan is a soluble fiber derived from algae, bacteria, fungi, yeast, and plant. Beta-glucan supports the immune system by activating immune cells. Beta-glucans stimulate macrophages and lymphocytes, white blood cells that target and destroy cancer cells, inhibiting tumor growth and metastasis.

Recommended For Dog Breeds Prone To Cancer

Cancer rates in dogs are increasing. Statistics show that about 50% of dog deaths are related to cancer. Risk factors include age, gender, diet, overall health and environment. One of the most surprising risk factors may be your dog's breed. Some dog breeds are more likely to get specific types of cancer. Breeds that have a higher risk of cancer include:

  • Golden Retrievers
  • Boxers
  • German shepherd
  • Rottweiler
  • Scottish terriers
  • Great Danes

The most common cancers in dogs include:

Brachycephalic or flat-faced breeds, like Boston Terriers, French Bulldogs and Pugs, are more likely to develop mast cell tumors. Large or giant breeds, including Rottweilers and Great Danes, are at a greater risk of developing osteosarcoma.
